Providing Educational Services Worldwide

After working within a Title I public school, April Brown acknowledged that the learning process relies heavily on building community in the classroom. With thirty-seven fourth grade students, more than half were English Language Learners, Ms. Brown knew that her students needed more.
During a meeting one day with her principal, he asked her what she needed to better serve her students. She replied that she needed two classroom assistants to work in small groups with students or float around the room to help answer student questions. She realized that like the adage, “it takes a village to raise a child,” it also takes one to educate a child. Of course, her principal replied that the school couldn’t afford to do that - but he would gladly place classroom assistants in each classroom if the budget allowed.
This is when she started the development of the in-class assistance program incorporating qualified volunteers in the classrooms of K-6 low performing public schools, free to low performing public schools.
During her thesis work, she identified the needs of students and developed programs that would better serve all students.
